What is Halton Voluntary Action?

Our job is to help your organisation make a difference in Halton.

There are lots of Voluntary groups in Halton. They have been formed because local people wanted to address specific problems. Each group delivers services that they believe will improve the lives of local people and of course, not every group is looking to support the same individuals.

For example:

Halton Autistic Family Support Group (a group we often work with) exists to provide respite services for young people with Autism. Not only are the young people provided with a specialist level of care (which is available nowhere in Halton outside of school hours), the organisation provides parents with vital opportunities to rest and share their experiences with people in the same position as themselves.

Age Concern Halton has completed different service users. Their goal is to "improve the quality of life and enhance the status and influence of elderly people in Halton", which is pretty self explanatory.

The Canal Boat Adventure Project (another group we work with on a regular basis) works with young people who are struggling to perform at school. They often work with children who have bullied by their peers and they rebuild their confidence and self esteem through activities on canal boats.

These are just a few of the 500 plus voluntary groups in Halton that we are aware of.

Our organisation, Halton Voluntary Action, is different from pretty much every other voluntary group in Halton because we don't directly deliver frontline services. Our beneficiaries are not young people, elderly people, people who like sport or people with disabilities. Our beneficiaries, our service users are the voluntary groups themselves. Our goal is to make voluntary groups as strong, vibrant and effective as possible.

Our job is to help you do your job better.
